THE POWER COLLECTION

Nadia Carlsten

PhD, CEO and recently landed her first board seat.

“I got the interview through my network, and I landed the seat because I focused on how my skills could help create value in the company, even if it is a different industry than where I work today.”

Nadia’s most important lessons for landing her board seat:

Build your network outside your industry as well. Focus on how your skills can be used across industries and always based on the company’s needs.

Don’t just look in areas where you normally work, but rather look at where your skills can create value.

Don’t underestimate yourself and take chances. The biggest risks bring the biggest wins.

Maj Britt Arberg

CEO, Fitness Instructor and recently landed her first board seat.

“What has made the difference is my ability to give honest and direct feedback – even when it is uncomfortable. It has been noticed and appreciated because it shows that I can challenge, think in diversity and stand firm on my values. And then I understand the company's product and can translate it into real business value.”

Maj Britt's most important lessons for landing her board seat:

Have many interests and build your network across sectors.

Create a large professional base, preferably within different industries.

Have the courage to say things as you see them.

MALOU TOFT

VP, board member and recently landed her first C level position as CRO.

“I have dared to say yes to opportunities in those defining moments when you are in doubt or have neither the time nor the energy. It challenges your stress threshold to the fullest. But through that, the wildest opportunities also arise – and you have to be on the spot many times before you score that legendary goal.”

Malou’s most important lessons for landing her C level position:

Nurture your network and make a virtue of being visible even if you live abroad, for example.

Be prepared! It is important to be able to remember your entire repertoire and stage it in new ways when changing jobs.

Work hard. Stand by your ambitions and accept that this also means opting out.

Catarina Nørgaard

Leader who has recently landed her first board seat.

"I have worked in the district heating and utilities sector for nearly 20 years – the last 6 years as a leader across four different companies. I changed jobs in 2024, and shortly after, a ‘colleague’ from another district heating company asked if I would serve as a deputy board member. After a year, a position became available, and I was appointed to the board because I was the most qualified candidate."

Catarina’s most important lessons for landing her board position:

Remember to support one another – highlight each other’s skills and bring other names into play.

Speak your ambitions aloud to your network and nurture those connections.

Stay persistent; it will happen.

Dorte Johar

Has recently landed her first C-level position as Chief Marketing & eCommerce Officer.

"My path hasn’t been straightforward. I’ve held career roles, been a stay-at-home mom, and pursued education along the way. But I have always worked hard and delivered results. Landing my first C-level role was about recognizing my own voice, believing in my experience, and understanding what I can bring to the table – and saying it out loud. It doesn’t always happen automatically."

Dorte’s most important lessons for landing her board position:

Acknowledge yourself and your capabilities.

Speak up, ask for opportunities, and believe in yourself.

Use your network as support.

Marie-Louise Munter

Has recently landed her first C-level position as Chief Sales Officer.

"When the organization was restructured, I was asked if I wanted to take on the role of Chief Sales Officer. This came shortly after I had reached out to our CEO myself and expressed my interest in joining the executive team. Our thoughts aligned perfectly – from opposite sides of the table."

Marie-Louise’s most important lessons for landing her C level position:

Ask for more responsibility.

If you have the ambition, don’t wait to be discovered.

Speak up and make yourself visible – not just within the organization, but also within your network.

Mette Skytte Pontoppidan

Has recently landed her first C-level position as co-founder and CCO.

"After a self-chosen career break, I was approached about starting a company together. It sparked a thought – if not now, when? And in a field that has been my passion for 20 years."

Mette’s most important lessons for landing her C-level position:

When the opportunity comes and it feels right, my advice is to seize it.

Don’t be afraid to fail.

You’ll find that many people in your network suddenly appear, support you, and cheer you on.

NANNA LYCK

Has recently landed her first C-level position as Chief Operating Officer.

"When I started in maritime recruitment, I quickly realized that my maritime background gave me a unique advantage. I understood what clients and candidates were looking for, and I saw opportunities to make processes smarter and more efficient. I wasn’t afraid to ask questions, challenge routines, and take responsibility for change. That mindset led me to a C-level role in just a few years, because I’ve always maintained a steady course, even in the face of challenges."

Nanna’s most important lessons for landing her C-level position:

Experience is your strength, not something to hide.

True change happens when you dare to ask questions, show passion, and remain persistent, even when the current is against you.

Power isn’t about being loud; it’s about standing firm in what you believe, leading with calm, courage, and conviction.

Sara Vinding

Has recently landed her first C-level position as Chief People Officer.

"I have always spoken openly about wanting responsibility and influence – and I have taken it whenever the opportunity arose. Curiosity, persistence, and strong relationships have been my most important tools for achieving my goals, just as professional expertise and engaging in difficult discussions have been key to building shared understanding."

Sara’s most important lessons for landing her C-level position:

The path to executive leadership requires persistence, clear communication, and the courage to step forward.

Trust in your own expertise and have the courage to fail along the way.

Remember to stay true to yourself and your values.
